Does it really surprise you? With the recent surge in coverage of the unhappy couple and the continued dissatisfaction with each other, John and Kate Gosselin of TLC’s hit show ”John and Kate + 8′ have officially filed for divorce.
With their ratings tumbling from 10 million viewers for the season opener to 2.8 million last week, the Gosselins decided to announce their split during a 1-hour long special announcement episode. Special announcement…really? The dissolution of a marriage of two parents with 8 children, special? Maybe it’s just me, but I wouldn’t be using my failure as a spouse to try and boost the ratings of my television show.
The Neilsen ratings haven’t been released, but we expect a pretty big turnout yesterday. It will be interesting to see just how many people continue to tune in now that John slamming beers at the bar and Kate being alone with be the standard. Are 8 cute kids with divorced parents enough to keep this show afloat?
