Holiday Movies Top Box Office

December 1st, 2008

People have many different traditions over the long Thanksgiving Day weekend.  One of those traditions for many people is checking out the latest movie releases.  Once again, a holiday movie takes top billing over the weekend.

Over the years we have seen many holiday movies rake in large sums of money over the Thanksgiving weekend.  Just a few of those movies are:  Home Alone in 1990, How the Grinch Stole Christmas in 2000 and Elf in 2003.  All of these movies went on to gross over $150,000,000 before their run was through.

This years holiday winner appears to be ”Four Christmases”.  It is a holiday comedy that stars Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon.  It grossed over $31,000,000 this weekend and has a cumulative gross over $46,000,000 since it’s release.  It seems poised to be the next Holiday smash hit.
